A coastal marine ecologist and cold water bug, she recently earned her B.Sc. degree in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she worked extensively as a scientific research diver and laboratory technician for multiple university-based operations. She has contributed data to long-term projects aimed at exploring mechanisms of kelp forest resiliency and ecosystem dynamics. In addition to her field contributions, she has been actively involved with community outreach in marine conservation and science education, positioned with NOAA for the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Her interest with incorporating current and future technologies in education outreach stems from her experience as a global science and technology policy research assistant. In addition to working intermittently as a dive tech repair technician at her local PNW based dive shop, she is pursuing her dive master certification through SDI/TDI and exploring various ways to incorporate outreach in tech based education with the Hydrous, before resuming her studies at the graduate level.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This official programme of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) creates and supports projects that center communication, connection, and creative problem solving to inspire ocean empathy, curiosity, and stewardship. By focusing on actions that leverage human-centered design, learning science, and emerging technologies, we can impactfully reach as many people as possible to transform ocean indifference into ocean advocacy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Our Decade Programme combines evidence with empathy. A key element in bridging scientific discovery and public understanding is human connection through meaningful ocean experiences. If we can create these experiences at scale, then we’re on to something powerful. - Dr. Erika Woolsey, Chief Scientist of The Hydrous</image:caption>
