The Hydrous Welcomes Eric Rieseberg to the Board of Directors
The Hydrous is thrilled to announce that Eric F. Rieseberg has joined our Board of Directors, bringing over four decades of operational and business experience. His wealth of expertise will be instrumental in supporting our mission to advance ocean science education and foster ocean empathy as we embark on exciting new initiatives in the coming year.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have Eric’s guidance as we work toward The Hydrous’s long-term vision,” says Dr. Erika Woolsey, Chief Scientist of The Hydrous. “His dedication to sound business practices and his passion for the ocean will help us scale our impact and empower us to reach new horizons.”
“With Eric joining the Board, we are confident in our ability to successfully launch a major new Hydrous initiative, Oceans for Everyone, on a significant scale,” says Board Chair Dr. Kristina Woolsey. “This initiative will amplify our impact by integrating our successful projects across research, virtual reality, photogrammetry, curriculum design, augmented reality, and remote social VR into a unified, dynamic program. Our vision is to make this program accessible nationwide and, ultimately, globally.”
With degrees in science and business, Mr. Rieseberg has held executive roles in the healthcare industry and brings extensive board and leadership experience. Notably, he recently served as Chairman of the Community Advisory Board for the Vester Field Station at Florida Gulf Coast University. There, he played a pivotal role in the creation, funding, and construction of “Kimberly’s Reef” —an 8-acre marine research reef in the Gulf of Mexico.
As a scuba diver and sailor with a lifelong passion for the ocean, Mr. Rieseberg’s deep connection to marine ecosystems perfectly complements The Hydrous’s mission.
